"Only One Thing!"

You are worried...about many things, but only one thing is needed.
Luke 10:41-42

Sometimes the reason we approach God with a list of requests the length of our arm is because we're more interested in His "presents" than His presence. What we consider needs, are often wants. Can you imagine having "only one thing" on your agenda; like just wanting to be with Him? David said, "One thing have I asked of the Lord...that I may dwell... [in His presence] all...my life" ( Psalm 27:4 ).

Speaking of His presence, Jesus told Martha, "You are worried... about many things, but only one thing is needed." No doubt, Martha loved Jesus. In fact she couldn't do enough for Him. The problem was, she was so busy serving Him that she didn't know how to relax and just enjoy just being with Him! Sound familiar?

If you're not spending time enjoying God's presence, you're way over-scheduled! Maybe like Martha you think that unless you do the job yourself it won't get done right. And who knows, you may be right! But remember this: God will never ask you to do anything that hinders your relationship with Him. He wants that to be your top priority!

So, if you're so busy serving God that you're not doing the "one thing"He really wants from you, right now would be a good time to heed the words of the old hymn "Turn your eyes upon Jesus; look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace." So, how about it?
