The Most Important Body Part

My mother used to ask me what the most important part of the body is. Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct answer. When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, "My ears, Mommy." She said, "No. Many people are deaf.
But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon."

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer. So this time I told her, "Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be "Our eyes." She looked at me and told me, "You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind."

Stumped again, I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, "No. But you are getting smarter every year, my child."

Then one year, my grandfather died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried. I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to my Grandfather. She asked me, "Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?"

"This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life.
For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you you were wrong and I have given you an example why. But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson."

She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, "My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder." I asked, "Is it because it holds up my head?" She replied, "No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends and that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it."

Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is sympathetic to the pain of others. People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will NEVER forget how you made them feel. Good friends are like stars...You don t always see them, but you always know they are there.

Try To Be More Balanced!

I, wisdom dwell together with prudence.
Proverbs 8:12

When you push yourself beyond the boundaries of wisdom, you suffer the same results as those who burn out in any other endeavour. Here are afew insights to help you:
(1) If you grew up in a stress-filled environment, you may not know how to handle life any other way. Nothing will change until you acknowledge that stress is like emotional adrenaline to you; it's why you keep creating it.
(2) When you're sitting in a chair and you hear the legs crack, wisdom says, "Take your weight off it before you end up on the floor. " Heed the telltale signs of stress before your health breaks and you're no good to God or anybody else.
(3) Learn to be prudent. Prudence just means careful management. To become a better manager of your time, your energy and your gifts, start writing down the habits you need to work on. Don't announce, "Starting today, everybody around here is going to change!
" No, work on yourself first, and only work on one or two things at a time.
(4) Recognise your stressors. Learn to adapt, instead of always allowing things to upset you. Life has a middle name, it'scalled - change!
Guess what? You're supposed to get tired!
Fatigue is a God-given boundary that prevents you from pushing yourself over the edge. What is it that gives you acid in your stomach, knots in your neck, and makes you less than a joy to be around?
The answer to that question reveals what you need to work on!

God's Call

Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work.
Jeremiah 1:5

There's a consistent pattern in Scripture of what happens in a life that God wants to use and improve:

(1) There's always a call. God asks common people to engage in uncommon acts of trust, like getting out of the boat and walking on water.

(2)There's always fear. God has a habit of asking people to do things that scare them: like Moses who told God, "I'm not a good enough speaker, use somebody else."

(3) There's always reassurance. Listen: "As I was with Moses, so I will be with you." That's what God told Joshua, the new leader who'd just taken over.

(4) There's always a decision. Sometimes, like with Gideon, we say yes to God's call. Sometimes, like the rich young ruler who spoke to Jesus, we say no, but always we must decide.

(5) There's always a changed life. Those who say yes to God's call don't walk perfectly, not by a long shot. But because they say yes they learn and grow, even from their failures, and become part of His actions to redeem a lost world. Those who say no to God are changed too; they become a little harder, a little more resistant to His calling, a little more likely to say no next time.

Is God calling you?
Maybe it has to do with your work, your relationships, your money, or facing your deepest fear.
God's call will go to the core of who you are and what you do.
If you say yes to Him,you'll never regret it!

We do not have to talk very much in order to pray well.
We know that God is there in His holy tabernacle;
let us open our hearts to Him;
let us rejoice in His Presence:
This is the best prayer.

God Loves You, Extremely!

Psalm 103:11-12

For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Love

~1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient;
love is kind;
love is not envious or boastful
or arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice in wrongdoing,
but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

The Gift Of Living

Thank You, God, for giving
Me the gift of living
In this curious, strange
World where all things
change
And where I can grow to be
My best and utmost me.
Thank You that I desire
Always to mount up higher
And be something more
Than I have been before,
And thank You for my mind
That always seeks to find
The beautiful and true
And be one with You.

Birth of Mary

Father of mercy,
give our people help
and strength from heaven.
The birth of the

was the dawn
of our salvation.
May this celebration
of her birthday
bring us closer
to lasting peace.

Grant this through
our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son,
who lives and reigns
with you and the
Holy Spirit
one God,
for ever and ever.

Face the truth!

You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
John 8:32

We fear the truth.
That's why people who suspect they are sick don't like to go to the doctor.
They don't want to hear the gruesome facts.
That's why people lie.
They fear that revealing the truth about themselves will only end up in being crushed.
Indeed, the basic fear about truth for many people is that truth is a sort of prison.
If we are faced with the facts, then lots of bad things will happen, we fear. Everybody will hate us if they find out the truth about us.
If God sees the truth about us, we fear, even he will give up on us.
And so we hide, like Adam and Eve in the Garden and God goes calling for us: "Adam, where are you?" But the stunning reality is that truth is nothing to fear.
It may hurt us a bit, this is true. But it will not harm us. It will set us free. For though we have much to want to hide, the astonishing and liberating message of Christ is that he already knows what we've done and he loves us full throttle anyway. There's no truth about ourselves or the world, no matter how embarrassing or difficult, he had not already had all eternity to consider before he willingly went to the Cross for us.

And there is nothing in heaven or earth that is greater than the truth of his love for us.

After The Rain

Whatever your cross, whatever your pain,
There will always be sunshine after the rain.

Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready to answer your call.

He knows every heartache, sees every tear,
A word from His lips can calm every fear.

Your sorrows may linger throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish at dawn's early light.

The Savior is waiting somewhere above
To give you His grace and send you His love.

Whatever your cross, whatever your pain,
God always sends rainbows after the rain.

Life is Fragile, Take good care

If everyone listen to God's word, and follow His way, then, we will live in peace and no worry!

For the past three months, life has been a struggle for my daughter and I, so many things had happened that we did not expect them
Anyway, with the Grace of God, we pull through, thank you God Our Father for being there when we need you.

A Father's Blessing

Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him.
Genesis 28:1

In Bible times fathers placed their hands on their children's heads and spoke certain promises over them, passing on the blessing from generation to generation. It's why "Isaac called Jacob and blessed him,"and why Jacob refused to die before blessing his grandchildren (see Genesis 48:14).

Now, times may have changed but one thing remains constant: children without caring, involved fathers usually spend their lives searching for a sense of identity and self-worth. And increasingly they're finding it in the company of drug dealers, rebellious peer groups and street gangs. Instead of fulfilling their God-given destiny they become defined and labelled by a lifestyle - "runaway," "convict,""trouble maker," "addict."

Before Tupac Shakur, the rap artist known for his violent song lyrics, was gunned down in 1996 he said:

"I never knew my real father. I know for a fact if I'd had a father I'd have some discipline [and] more confidence. Your mother can't calm you down, reassure you, and show you where your manhood is. You need a man to teach you how to be a man.

"When an unidentified man was brought to Jesus for healing, before He forgave his sins or restored his health, He called him, "Son" ( Mark2:5).

Note, He didn't say, "You've got to clean up your act." Or,

"First, you must do things My way."

No, He established a relationship with the man by showing him love and acceptance. As a father you need to do the same!

Loving and accepting your children as they are right now, without conditions and condemnation, is one of the greatest gifts you can give them!

A Christ-like Response

Live generously and graciously toward others.
Matthew 5:48

Here's how Jesus says we should respond to those who mistreat us:
"Here's another old saying that deserves a second look: 'Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.' Is that going to get us anywhere?
Here's what I propose: 'Don't hit back at all.'
If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, gift-wrap your best coat and make a present of it. And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously.

You're familiar with the old written law, 'Love your friend,' and its unwritten companion, 'Hate your enemy.' I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst.

When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves.

This is what God does. He gives His best - the sun to warm and the rain to nourish - to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty.
If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus?

Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal?

Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that. In a word, what I'm saying is, Grow up. You're Kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you" ( Matthew 5:38-48 )

Overcoming Temptation

Lest Satan should take advantage of us.
2 Corinthians 2:11

Here are 3 effective strategies to help you overcome temptation:

(1) Expect it. Unless you expect temptation you won't prepare for it.Temptation begins in your mind. Any defeat that shows up in your actions was first a battle lost in your will. So Paul writes: "We don't want to unwittingly give Satan an opening" ( 2 Corinthians 2:11 ).

(2) Detect it. Ask God to help you detect Satan's advances and brace yourself for the impact. An ink-stained wall in Wartburg Castle in Germany illustrates the point. Martin Luther, in the midst of prayer, suddenly detected the enemy's presence. The story goes that he picked up an ink pot and hurled it against the wall as he aimed it at the devil.Luther sensed the adversary's sinister advance and responded the best way he knew how. Sound extreme? Maybe, but do you have that kind of spiritual sensitivity?

(3) Reject it. Attempt to play games with the devil and he'll take you down. Listen: "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" ( James 4:7 ). Satan would have you do the reverse; resist God and submit to him - that's a trap!
Don't be clever; reject it. If you're battling temptation today, listen: "Our high priest is able to understand our weaknesses ...He was tempted in every way that weare, but He did not sin. Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God's throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it" ( Hebrews 4:15-16 ).

prayer for fair weather Posted by Picasa

Dear Lord

I thank You for this day.
I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning.
I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.
Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.
Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.
Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.
Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.
Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.
And it's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.
I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart.
Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak...
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.
I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way.
I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.
I pray for those who don't know You intimately.
I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others.
I pray for those that don't believe.
I thank you that I believe.I believe that God changes people and God changes things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers.
For each and every family member in their households.
I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.
I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees it.

Free From The Opinions Of People

It matters very little to me what you think of me.
1 Corinthians 4:3

While we should respect the opinions of others, we should never be ruled by them.
If you let it, criticism will steal your individuality, rob you of your creativity, and stop you from fulfilling your destiny. That's too much power to give anybody.
Insecure people will always criticise you, especially if your choices differ from theirs. That's because they're uncomfortable with things that don't conform to their way of thinking.
Secure people can handle being the only one doing something. They can allow others the liberty to be different and to make their own choices.
That's because they themselves are secure in who God has called them to be.

Listen: "[He] made himself of no reputation" ( Philippians 2:7).
Jesus obviously wasn't too concerned about what others thought of Him.
He had a goal - to do the Father's will - no more and no less.
And He knew that to do it He had to be free from the opinions of others. So do you!
The greatest tragedy that could happen to you would be to grow old and realise that somewhere along the way you lost yourself and never succeeded at being the person God called you to be. And that's a distinct possibility if you allow the opinions of others to rule your life. Paul says, "It matters very little to me what you think of me,even less where I rank in popular opinion.
I don't even rank myself...The Master makes that judgment"
( 1 Corinthians 4:3-5 ).

Today, ask God to set you free from the opinions of others.

Toughen Up!

Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13

Where did we get the idea that everybody has to like us? Certainly not from God's Word. Jesus said His blessings were reserved for the"persecuted and reviled" (See Matthew 5:10-11). If you're thin-skinned you'll have a rough time because you'll be an easy target for the enemy.Endurance is the secret, not popularity.
Paul endured desertion by his friends, ugly letters from the Corinthians, disappointment with the Galatians, mistreatment in Philippi, mocking in Athens, plus imprisonment and beheading in Rome. So what are you complaining about? In the Book of Corinthians he writes 4 things you need to pay careful attention to:

(1) Be on the alert! The enemy is out to get you. What's he after? The deposit of God that is inside you. You are a seed capable of producing a harvest for God on this earth, so protect yourself!

(2) Stand firm in the faith! You can't stand on your circumstances or the opinions of others because those things constantly change. No, you can stand only on the Word of God. Are you?

(3) Act like men! Being childish won't cut it when the battle rages. It's time to grow up. If you're still making the same mistakes 25 years later, you're not learning enough.

(4) Be strong! Weakness is an invitation to your enemy. It always precedes surrender, and quitting is not an option for you! God told His people that the Promised Land was theirs, but they had to fight for it.

And He's saying the same to you today!
